Well, 2020 is finally over and we all couldn’t be happier! One of the first things our team did to celebrate 2021 was come up with our marketing predictions for the year to come. Marketing was thrown a huge curve this past year and figuring out the new trends for this year should be a top priority. Digital Marketing is an obvious “trend” but as we said last year, it is no longer considered a trend, it is here to stay. Let’s dive into our not so obvious trends for 2021.
Is Social Media A Top Place to Sell Your Products?
For the past couple of years, Facebook ads have been one of the more profitable ways to market to your customers. Because of this, Social Media platforms are making it easier for consumers to purchase products directly from the app. Why direct someone to another link to purchase when you can have them purchase directly from the app? This creates a much simpler path and encourages sales. No matter if you sell a service or a product this new easy way of purchasing, we believe, isn’t going anywhere soon. In 2021 we can help simplify things for you.
Easy-to-Consume Content
Audiences will be looking to consume content that is right in front of their face and easy to access in 2021. A newsletter, blog or podcast are great examples. These are things that come out weekly or monthly that the audience is expecting and can easily access for entertainment and news updates from their favorite brands. In 2020 we saw an increase in an emailed newsletter opens and this will only continue to grow as people are looking for the most up-to-date information. Convenient and at the ready content like newsletters, blogs and podcasts will help brands stay in touch and connect in ways they haven’t been able to before. Brands can use these ways of connecting to consumers as a way to show they care. Brands can add personal touches and transparency to their newsletters, encouraging their audience to respond if they need anything. This new way of connecting is just the beginning, we believe the future holds much more of this.
Virtual Events & Live Interactions
If we learned one thing from 2020 marketing, it’s that customers still crave entertainment, activities, and events even if they cannot physically attend them. The virtual event has come into its own in 2020 and will only become more popular as the year goes on. Not only can a virtual event help you connect with your current customers it can also help you gain customers you never had access to. Instead of only marketing to a local audience, businesses are now able to invite the whole world to attend their event and advertise to a whole new audience. The key to these events however is creativity, fun rich content that makes the event worth the customer’s time and money. These virtual events will only continue to grow in 2021 and we expect them to stay long after.
User Generated Content has been talked about for the past couple of years, but we predict it to be immense this year. It’s a way for brands to post authentic and relatable content when they might be more restricted by their resources. With lockdowns or stay at home orders, many brands might not have access to the creative ways they are used to, what better way to connect to your audience than using genuine user content. It builds trust, is relatable and uplifting. UGC is a great way to provide social proof of your product or service, especially now its what customers are looking for.
Muted Colors
Neon bright colors were everywhere in the past couple of years, everywhere you look another brand was using bright pinks and purples or greens and blues. This was a trend that caught on a little too well. To compensate for this we are seeing muted colors start to trend up and we expect them to be here for a bit. After the year we just had, consumers want more natural, safe, and soothing colors, not as much in your face abrupt colors.
Social Slide Decks
This trend takes roots from PowerPoint slide decks, these fun creative slide decks for Social Media help show more information visually than just a single post. In a social world where a single post is commonly overlooked for video or other more interactive posts, this is the perfect way to help push your content to more people. We view them as a combination of slide decks and infographics, which is a great way to spread brand awareness in a fun and unexpected way.
