KENDALL COUNTY
Social Media Marketing Case Study
HERE WE GO
Can you believe that over half of the population is on social media? That is 4.7 billion people! With that being said, it’s no surprise that social media has become an essential component of business success. Just think of the untouched audience you are missing if you are not on social media. Better yet, think of how potential clients view you because of the lack of social media. Social media is a place to ‘spice up’ your company and show off your brand personality. The same is true for not-for-profits, government, and community organizations. Creating a social media presence for people to follow what is informational, professional, fun, and active is just as important as a website.
THE HURDLE
Let’s start with the facts. If you have not heard, Kendall County is the fastest-growing county in Illinois with a population of +/- 132,809. Growth has climbed 15% since 2010. There are 8 towns or cities in Kendall County; Yorkville, Oswego, Bristol, Plano, Newark, Montgomery, Millington, and Milbrook. With such a growing population, the board at Kendall County needed a way to connect with incoming and existing residents quickly and professionally. Kendall County staff knew that they wanted to utilize social media but they did not have the time to add that to their plates with their busy to-do list. They knew they needed experts to take over creating, strategizing, and managing social media accounts.
LAST PIECE TO THE PUZZLE
After meeting with some representatives at Kendall County, PMG agreed that social media was the best choice for them. Together we were able to create and execute a social media strategy that focuses on reaching the residents of Kendall County with engaging and important information through utilizing Facebook and Instagram. The strategy included many different tactics:
Branding
Typically with the government, you may not think of branding as an important step. PMG knew that branding was important, no matter the industry. Kendall County’s branding strategy included graphic creation, hashtag research, content planning, scheduling, and much more.
Building an online community
Kendall County wanted to bring the “real-life” community online. That meant it was imperative to stay active on the accounts. PMG has made it a priority to be active on Kendall County’s social media accounts daily, in order to continue its good social media reputation. Our team shares relevant posts from community pages, monitors comments, and answers private messages.
Staying up-to-date
Lastly, Kendall County found a great way to share news/events through social media. Together, we gather the information that is important to the residents of Kendall County and we share it in a professional and understandable manner. This also gives a chance for followers/residents to ask questions and leave comments.
THE RESULTS
Though PMG cannot guarantee likes or followers, we believe that our strategy has played a helping hand in these growing metrics.
